Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SYO-0805 is a 65mg oral formulation of fenofibrate developed by Samyang Biopharmaceuticals Corporation for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Fenofibrate is a fibric acid derivative that functions as a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha) agonist. By activating PPAR-alpha, the drug enhances the activity of lipoprotein lipase and reduces the synthesis of apoprotein C-III, leading to increased lipolysis and elimination of triglyceride-rich particles from the plasma. This results in a significant reduction in triglyceride levels and a moderate reduction in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, while often increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels. SYO-0805 was specifically designed as a lower-dose formulation (65mg) intended to achieve bioequivalence with higher-dose reference products, such as Lipidil Supra 160mg, through optimized bioavailability technology.
