Overview

Syringin, also known as Eleutheroside B, is a naturally occurring phenolic glycoside and a major bioactive component found in plants such as *Acanthopanax senticosus* (Siberian ginseng), *Syringa oblata*, and *Fraxinus rhynchophylla*. As a small molecule natural product, it is primarily utilized as a research compound and a marker for the quality control of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparations like Aidi injection, Compound cantharidin capsule, and Tanreqing injection. Syringin has demonstrated a wide range of pharmacological activities in preclinical studies, including immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antihyperglycemic, and neuroprotective effects. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of several signaling pathways, including the inhibition of NF-κB and PI3K/AKT, and potential interaction with targets such as TGF-βR1, EGFR, and COX-2. While it is widely studied for its potential in treating metabolic disorders, cancer, and inflammation, it is not currently an approved pharmaceutical drug developed by a specific company as a novel therapeutic.
