Overview

SYS6006 is an mRNA vaccine developed for the prevention of COVID-19. It encodes the full-length spike (S) protein sequence of the prototype SARS-CoV-2 strain, incorporating key mutations from major variants such as Delta, Omicron BA.4, BA.5, and BF.7 to enhance cross-variant protection[1][2][3]. The vaccine uses lipid nanoparticles to deliver mRNA encoding a prefusion-stabilized S protein (with K986P and V987P mutations), which induces robust neutralizing antibody responses and strong T-cell immunity against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants[1][3]. Developed by Zhongqi Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CSPC Pharmaceutical Group, SYS6006 has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in both animal models and human clinical trials[1][3][7]. It was included for emergency use in China following positive results from Phase 1, 2, and heterologous booster studies involving over 5,500 participants[6].
