Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SZ2726 is a small molecule, non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (ns-MRA) developed by Suzhong Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The drug functions by selectively binding to and inhibiting the overactivation of the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR), a nuclear receptor that, when overstimulated, promotes pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic pathways in renal and cardiovascular tissues. Unlike traditional steroidal MRAs, ns-MRAs like SZ2726 are designed to offer high selectivity and a reduced risk of hyperkalemia. As of early 2025, SZ2726 is undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in China (CTR20252764) to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers.
