Overview
SZJK-0421 is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of WEE1 kinase, currently being developed by Shenzhen Jikang Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of advanced malignancies. WEE1 is a key regulator of the G2/M checkpoint in the cell cycle; by inhibiting WEE1, the drug promotes premature entry into mitosis in cells with DNA damage (particularly those with TP53 mutations), leading to mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials in China, specifically targeting advanced gynecologic malignancies (such as endometrial and ovarian cancers) and soft tissue sarcomas.
