Overview

SZN-8143 is a trispecific antibody drug candidate developed by Surrozen for the treatment of retinal disorders, including diabetic macular edema (DME), wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD), and uveitic macular edema (UME). The molecule combines three mechanisms of action in a single agent: Frizzled class receptor 4 (Fzd4) agonism to stimulate Wnt signaling, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) antagonism, and interleukin-6 (IL-6) antagonism. Preclinical studies have shown that SZN-8143 can stimulate Wnt signaling, induce normal retinal vessel regrowth, and suppress pathological vessel growth. This multi-targeted approach aims to provide benefits over current single-agent therapies for these vision-threatening eye diseases[1][2][4][5][6][7].
