Overview

T-62 is a small molecule drug initially developed by King Pharmaceuticals LLC and later associated with Pfizer Inc. It acts as an adenosine receptor agonist, specifically functioning as an adenosine A1 allosteric enhancer. This mechanism increases the effectiveness of the body's endogenous adenosine to treat neuropathic pain. The drug was investigated primarily for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia, a type of chronic pain following shingles infection. Clinical development included Phase 2 trials; however, its development status is discontinued.
