Drug intelligence / Profile preview
T-FL is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic medication developed and marketed by Jainson Biotech. It consists of two active small-molecule ingredients: tobramycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, and fluorometholone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid. Tobramycin provides broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and causing cell death. Fluorometholone acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by binding to and activating glucocorticoid receptors, which leads to the suppression of various inflammatory mediators. This topical formulation is primarily indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions where a superficial bacterial ocular infection exists or there is a high risk of such an infection.
