Drug intelligence / Profile preview
T-PRED is an investigational ophthalmic formulation of prednisolone acetate developed by Bausch & Lomb Incorporated. It is a synthetic glucocorticoid designed to manage postoperative inflammation in patients undergoing cataract surgery. As a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, prednisolone acetate works by inhibiting the inflammatory response, including the suppression of leukocyte migration and the reduction of capillary permeability. T-PRED was specifically evaluated in Phase 2 pharmacokinetic studies to compare its aqueous humor concentrations against Pred Forte, an established prednisolone acetate 1% ophthalmic suspension, suggesting that the T-PRED formulation may be optimized for enhanced ocular bioavailability or penetration.
