Overview
T.R.U.E. TEST (Thin-Layer Rapid Use Epicutaneous Patch Test) is a ready-to-use diagnostic patch test system developed by Mekos Laboratories AS. It is indicated for use as an aid in the diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis in adults and children 6 years of age and older. The system consists of multiple test panels containing standardized allergens and allergen mixes (such as nickel, quaternium-15, and fragrances) embedded in a polyester patch. When applied to the skin for approximately 48 hours, these allergens trigger a localized delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction (Type IV) in sensitized individuals, allowing for the identification of specific contact allergens. It was FDA-approved in 1995 and serves as a standardized screening tool for common contact allergens.
