T1D-102 is an investigational Chimeric Antigen Ligand (CAL) T-cell therapy being developed by 4immune Therapeutics for the treatment of early-onset type 1 diabetes. The therapy utilizes a proprietary CAL/CAR T platform designed to selectively target and eliminate the autoreactive T cells responsible for the autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. The system employs a novel adaptor molecule (the CAL) that serves as a bridge, allowing either autologous or allogeneic CAR T cells to specifically identify and destroy the disease-causing T cells while sparing the broader immune system. By depleting these autoreactive populations, T1D-102 aims to halt the progression of the disease and preserve pancreatic function. The program is currently in the IND-enabling stage, with a transition to clinical trials anticipated in 2025.
