T22-GFP-H6 is a self-assembling recombinant fusion protein nanoparticle developed as a targeted drug delivery platform for cancer therapy. It consists of the **T22 peptide** (a polyphemusin II derivative that is a selective ligand for CXCR4), **GFP** (green fluorescent protein, typically used for biodistribution tracking), and a **hexahistidine (H6) tag** for purification. The T22 component binds selectively to the **CXCR4 receptor**, which is overexpressed in cancer stem cells of various human tumors, including colorectal cancer. This allows the nanoparticle to selectively bind and internalize into CXCR4+ cancer cells, delivering cytotoxic agents (when conjugated) directly to metastatic and tumor cells with minimal off-target toxicity.
