Drug intelligence / Profile preview
T2625 is a preclinical-stage topical therapy being developed by Arivin Therapeutics, a Finnish/Dutch biotechnology company. It is an engineered macrocycle designed as an anti-virulence agent to treat wound infections. Unlike traditional antibiotics that kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria, T2625 targets and neutralizes bacterial virulence factors, specifically bacterial toxins and the formation of biofilms and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). This strategy aims to manage infections caused by high-priority Gram-negative pathogens while minimizing the selective pressure that leads to antimicrobial resistance. The drug's platform technology is based on research published in Nature Communications.
