Overview

T3P-1137 is an investigational microbial immunotherapy developed by T3 Pharmaceuticals (a subsidiary of Boehringer Ingelheim) for the treatment of solid tumors. It utilizes a proprietary platform based on an attenuated strain of *Salmonella typhimurium* (YS1646) engineered with a functional Type 3 Secretion System (T3SS). This system allows the bacteria to selectively colonize the hypoxic environment of solid tumors and deliver therapeutic protein payloads directly into the tumor microenvironment. T3P-1137 is specifically designed to deliver Interleukin-12 (IL-12), a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine that promotes the activation and recruitment of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. By localizing the production and secretion of IL-12 within the tumor, T3P-1137 aims to induce a robust anti-tumor immune response while mitigating the severe systemic toxicities typically associated with recombinant IL-12 administration.
