Drug intelligence / Profile preview
T4N5 Endonuclease Liposome is a topical liposomal formulation of the recombinant bacterial DNA repair enzyme T4 endonuclease V (T4N5), currently in preclinical development by Chongqing Fujin Biomedical. T4N5 endonuclease specifically recognizes and initiates the repair of ultraviolet (UV)-induced cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) in DNA, which are major drivers of mutagenesis, photoaging, and skin cancers. By encapsulating the hydrophilic and high-molecular-weight T4N5 enzyme in pH-sensitive liposomes, the formulation enhances penetration through the stratum corneum to deliver the active enzyme directly into the nuclei of epidermal cells. Chongqing Fujin Biomedical is developing this topical enzyme therapy for the treatment and prevention of xeroderma pigmentosum, photoaging, photo-damaged skin, and post-organ-transplant photosensitivity.
