T4N5 liposomal topical formulation is a DNA repair enzyme therapy developed by Chongqing Fujin Biomedical. The formulation consists of T4 endonuclease V (T4N5), a DNA repair enzyme originally derived from the T4 bacteriophage, encapsulated within liposomes to facilitate topical delivery into the epidermis. The mechanism of action involves the specific recognition and excision of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs), which are the primary DNA lesions induced by ultraviolet (UV) radiation. By promoting the repair of these lesions, the formulation aims to mitigate the risk of skin cancer and photoaging. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), photosensitivity in post-transplant patients, and general UV-damaged skin. The developer is also pursuing registration for the formulation as a cosmetic and medical device ingredient.
