Overview

TA-CIN is a therapeutic subunit vaccine composed of a recombinant fusion protein containing the L2, E6, and E7 proteins from human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16). It is designed to stimulate strong cellular immune responses—specifically CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell responses—against HPV16 antigens. The primary goal of TA-CIN is to treat or prevent recurrence of HPV16-associated diseases such as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN), and cervical cancer. Preclinical studies demonstrated that TA-CIN induces robust immune responses in animal models and can prevent tumor outgrowth in prophylactic settings. Clinical trials have shown that it elicits specific immune responses in humans with an acceptable safety profile. The vaccine has also been studied in combination with other immunotherapies such as imiquimod or anti-PD-1 therapy[1][5][7][9].
