Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tabirafusp alfa tedromer (KSI-501) is an investigational bispecific antibody biopolymer conjugate (ABC) designed to simultaneously target and inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Developed by Kodiak Sciences, the drug is built on their proprietary ABC platform, which conjugates a trap-antibody fusion protein to a high-molecular-weight phosphorylcholine-based biopolymer to enhance ocular half-life and durability. By combining anti-VEGF activity (to inhibit neovascularization and vascular permeability) with anti-IL-6 activity (to target underlying inflammation and immune-mediated resistance), tabirafusp alfa tedromer aims to provide superior efficacy and extended dosing intervals for retinal vascular diseases. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical development for wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME).
