TAC-BCMA is an investigational autologous T-cell therapy engineered with a T-cell Antigen Coupler (TAC) designed to target B-cell Maturation Antigen (BCMA). Developed by Triumvira Immunologics, the TAC technology represents a novel approach to cell therapy that redirects T cells to tumor cells by co-opting the endogenous T-cell receptor (TCR) complex. Unlike Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies, which rely on synthetic signaling domains, TAC-BCMA utilizes the cell's natural signaling machinery, which may result in a more controlled immune response and potentially lower the risk of severe toxicities like cytokine release syndrome. The therapy is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, a malignancy characterized by the overproliferation of BCMA-expressing plasma cells.
