TachoSil is an absorbable fibrin sealant patch used as a topical adjunct to hemostasis during surgery. It consists of human fibrinogen and human thrombin coated onto an equine collagen sponge. Upon contact with blood or other fluids, the active components are activated, leading to the formation of a fibrin clot that adheres the patch to tissue surfaces, promoting local hemostasis and tissue sealing. TachoSil is indicated for use in adult and pediatric patients (from 1 month of age) in cardiovascular, hepatic, and neurological surgeries when standard surgical techniques are ineffective or impractical. In neurosurgery, it is also used to seal dura mater and prevent cerebrospinal fluid leakage. The patch dissolves completely after application[1][2][3][5][7].
