Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tacrosolv is an investigational aqueous eye drop formulation of tacrolimus developed by Marinomed Biotech AG using its proprietary Marinosolv technology platform. Tacrolimus is a macrolide lactone immunosuppressant that works by inhibiting T-lymphocyte signal transduction and mast-cell function, thereby suppressing cytokine and histamine release. The Marinosolv platform increases the solubility of tacrolimus by more than 200-fold compared to water alone, enabling its use as a clear aqueous eye drop solution with enhanced bioavailability. Tacrosolv is primarily being developed for the treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (hay fever), where it has demonstrated statistically significant reduction in ocular and nasal symptoms in Phase 2 clinical trials. Marinomed also plans to explore its use in other ophthalmic indications such as dry eye disease and ocular inflammation.
