Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tacrovin Forte is a topical dermatological medication containing 0.1% w/w tacrolimus, a small molecule immunosuppressant. Developed and marketed by Galcare Pharmaceutical, it is available in both ointment and lotion formulations. Tacrolimus acts as a calcineurin inhibitor, which prevents the activation of T-lymphocytes and the subsequent release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) and vitiligo, particularly in patients who are unresponsive to or intolerant of conventional therapies like topical corticosteroids. Additionally, it is utilized for other inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, lichen planus, contact dermatitis, and steroid-induced rosacea. The formulation is designed for external use and is suitable for application on widespread or hairy areas of the skin.
