Overview

TAEST1901 is an autologous T-cell receptor engineered T-cell (TCR-T) therapy designed to target the Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) antigen presented by the HLA-A*02:01 major histocompatibility complex. Developed by the Cancer Institute and Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in collaboration with Xiangxue Life Sciences, it is being evaluated in the PLATFORM2 trial for patients with advanced rare solid tumors. The therapy involves the lentiviral transduction of patient-derived T cells with a high-affinity TCR gene specific to the AFP peptide-MHC complex. This modification allows the T cells to recognize and kill tumor cells expressing AFP, a protein often overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma and certain rare germ cell tumors.
