Overview

A therapeutic cancer vaccine made from patient-derived autologous or allogeneic tumor cells that are genetically modified to express **TAG-7** (also called PGLYRP1), then inactivated, and administered subcutaneously. The vaccine is designed to induce an anti-tumor immune response by stimulating T-lymphocyte-mediated immunity against TAG-7-expressing tumor cells. In clinical studies, this vaccine has been investigated in patients with locally advanced or metastatic malignant melanoma and renal cell carcinoma, with evidence for biomarker-guided efficacy related to immune and tumor microenvironmental factors. The mechanism involves gene transfer of TAG-7 into tumor cells followed by irradiation to inactivate them before subcutaneous injection, aiming to elicit a host immune reaction specific to the patient’s tumor antigens[1][3][7][8].
