It is designed for use in general anesthesia and analgesia, particularly for short-duration surgical procedures such as hysteroscopy and gastrointestinal endoscopy. Tagelidine is often evaluated in combination with sedative agents like remimazolam to provide balanced anesthesia with rapid onset, stable hemodynamics, and quick recovery. As a biased agonist of the μ-opioid receptor, it aims to provide potent analgesia while potentially reducing the risk of typical opioid-related side effects such as respiratory depression and gastrointestinal dysfunction by selectively activating G-protein signaling over β-arrestin recruitment.
