Overview

TAK-128 is a novel synthetic small molecule compound developed primarily for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. It acts as an antagonist of the thromboxane A2 receptor (TBXA2R), which is involved in platelet aggregation and vasoconstriction. By blocking this receptor, TAK-128 aims to alleviate symptoms related to peripheral nervous system diseases such as diabetic neuropathy. The drug was initially developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corp. and later associated with Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Its development has been discontinued after phase 2 clinical trials, which evaluated its efficacy and safety in diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients via oral administration.
