TAK-559 + metformin

TAK-559 + metformin is an investigational combination therapy for type 2 diabetes. TAK-559 is a novel small molecule that acts as a dual agonist of human peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor gamma 1 (PPARγ1) and peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor alpha (PPARα), with partial agonist activity at PPARγ1 and slight activity at PPARδ. This mechanism aims to improve insulin sensitivity and lipid metabolism. Metformin, a biguanide, reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity. The combination was studied to evaluate its safety and efficacy in patients with type 2 diabetes who require improved glycemic control[3][6].
