TAK-701 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). By binding to HGF, TAK-701 prevents its interaction with the MET proto-oncogene receptor tyrosine kinase (c-Met receptor, also known as MET), thereby inhibiting activation of the c-Met signaling pathway. This mechanism can induce cell death in tumor cells expressing c-Met and has been shown to reverse resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as gefitinib in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) models where resistance is driven by HGF-mediated autocrine or paracrine signaling. Developed by Takeda, TAK-701 has been evaluated primarily for advanced solid tumors and NSCLC with acquired resistance to EGFR inhibitors[1][2][3][4].
