Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Talastine is a second-generation alkylamine H1-antihistamine used for the treatment of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis and urticaria. It acts by selectively blocking the histamine H1 receptor, thereby inhibiting the effects of endogenous histamine and providing relief from allergy symptoms. Talastine is structurally classified as a phthalazinone derivative and belongs to the class of organic compounds known as diazanaphthalenes. Its antiallergic activity has been demonstrated in clinical studies, though it has also been reported to cause allergic drug exanthema in rare cases[1][3][5][8].
