Overview

Talfirastide (TXA127) is a synthetic heptapeptide formulation of the naturally occurring endogenous peptide angiotensin-(1-7), which is a key component of the alternative renin-angiotensin system (RAS). It acts primarily as an agonist of the G-protein coupled Mas receptor (MAS1), counteracting the vasoconstrictive, inflammatory, and fibrotic effects of the classical RAS pathway (mediated by angiotensin II and the AT1 receptor). Talfirastide has been investigated for various indications, including ischemic stroke recovery, Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)-associated cardiomyopathy, recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB), and COVID-19-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome.
