This drug is a combination of two immunotherapeutic agents: **talimogene laherparepvec**, an oncolytic herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) genetically engineered to selectively replicate in tumor tissue and express GM-CSF, and **nivolumab**, a monoclonal antibody targeting PD-1 and acting as an immune checkpoint inhibitor. Talimogene laherparepvec is administered by intratumoral injection to lyse tumor cells and stimulate local and systemic anti-tumor immunity by releasing tumor antigens and GM-CSF, which attracts dendritic cells. Nivolumab is administered systemically and blocks the PD-1 receptor on T cells, releasing T cell inhibition and thereby enhancing anti-tumor immune responses. The combination is being studied for synergistic immunostimulatory effects in cancer and is under clinical investigation primarily for melanoma, lymphomas, and sarcoma[7][5][1][3].
