talnetant

Talnetant is a selective, orally active small molecule neurokinin 3 (NK3) receptor antagonist developed by GlaxoSmithKline. It was primarily investigated for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome and as a potential antipsychotic for schizophrenia. Talnetant acts by blocking the NK3 receptor, which is a G protein-coupled receptor involved in mediating the effects of tachykinins such as neurokinin B. Although it showed promise in early studies, clinical trials did not demonstrate significant efficacy over placebo for irritable bowel syndrome, and development for schizophrenia was discontinued. Other indications explored included chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cough, overactive bladder, and urinary incontinence[1][2][4][5][7].
