Overview

Talopram is a chemical compound that was investigated as an antidepressant in the 1970s. It is structurally related to citalopram and escitalopram, belonging to the class of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Like other SSRIs, it was designed to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin in the brain, thereby increasing serotonin levels and potentially improving mood. However, talopram was never marketed or approved for clinical use. Its development did not progress beyond early research stages.
