Overview

Tangbi Waixi Fang is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine decoction used externally as a foot bath for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). It is designed to relieve clinical symptoms and improve nerve conduction velocity in DPN patients. The formula consists of multiple herbal ingredients, typically including but not limited to chili pepper (辣椒), prickly ash peel (花椒), processed frankincense (制乳香), processed myrrh (制没药), safflower (红花), honeysuckle stem (忍冬藤), and borneol (冰片)[4]. The mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but may involve anti-inflammatory effects and improvement of microcirculation. Clinical trials have investigated its efficacy and safety in multicenter, double-blind, randomized controlled settings[1][2].
