Tangdiefang

Tangdiefang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formula developed by the Endocrinology Department of Tsinghua University Yuquan Hospital (Tsinghua University Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine). It is specifically designed for the treatment of pre-diabetes, a state of intermediate hyperglycemia characterized by impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) or impaired fasting glucose (IFG). The formula is composed of several traditional herbs, including *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Coptis chinensis*, and *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, which are selected for their synergistic effects on metabolic regulation. Tangdiefang aims to prevent the progression of pre-diabetes to clinical Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) by improving insulin sensitivity, protecting pancreatic beta-cell function, and potentially modulating the secretion of incretins such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
