Tangluoning (also known as Tang Luo Ning or TLN) is a traditional Chinese medicine compound prescription used primarily for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. It is composed of multiple herbal ingredients and has been shown in preclinical and clinical studies to improve symptoms associated with diabetic neuropathy. The proposed mechanisms include modulation of glycolipid metabolism, reduction of oxidative stress, regulation of mitochondrial dynamics in Schwann cells, and rebalancing intestinal flora. Studies have demonstrated that TLN can decrease serum lipid levels, insulin resistance, blood glucose levels, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and improve mitochondrial function in nerve tissue[1][2][3][4]. Its effects are dose-dependent and it may also influence microRNA expression related to nerve repair[1].
