Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tangminling is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine composed of ten Chinese herbs. It is primarily prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in mainland China. Clinical studies have shown that tangminling can reduce glucose levels and body weight and may improve β-cell function in T2DM patients. The mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but appears to involve modulation of glucose metabolism and possibly enhancement of pancreatic β-cell function[1][10]. The drug was initially developed by Guang'anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences[2].
