Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tangwang (also known as Tang Wang Prescription) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed for the treatment of early diabetic microvascular complications, specifically non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR). Developed by researchers including Fengmei Lian at Guang'anmen Hospital, the formula is typically administered as oral granules. Its therapeutic approach is based on TCM principles of tonifying Qi and Yin while resolving blood stasis to protect the retinal microvasculature and prevent disease progression. Clinical evaluation has focused on its ability to improve retinal microvascular disease and prevent progression to proliferative stages, often studied as an add-on therapy to standard care such as calcium dobesilate.
