Tanhuo Bolus is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Shanghai Kaibao Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke, specifically targeting the phlegm-heat syndrome. In TCM theory, phlegm-heat is a common pathological pattern in the acute phase of stroke, and Tanhuo Bolus is designed to clear heat and resolve phlegm to improve neurological outcomes. The drug is currently being evaluated in a Phase II randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter clinical trial in China to assess its efficacy and safety in adult patients diagnosed with the phlegm-heat pattern of acute ischemic stroke.
