Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tanreqing is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia. It is composed of five main ingredients: *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Baical skullcap root), bear bile powder, goat horn, *Lonicera japonica* (Japanese honeysuckle), and *Forsythia suspensa*. The formulation is recognized for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial properties, as well as its ability to clear heat and resolve phlegm. While originally developed as an injection by Shanghai Kaibao Pharmaceutical, oral capsule formulations have been investigated for broader use, including the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19.
