Tanyin Wan

Tanyin Wan (痰饮丸) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula presented as concentrated pills. It is primarily used to warm and tonify the spleen and kidney, and to assist yang in resolving phlegm. This formulation is indicated for conditions arising from spleen and kidney yang deficiency with phlegm-fluid obstruction, such as chronic cough, shortness of breath, asthma, expectoration of white phlegm, cold limbs, lower back and back pain, and abdominal distension. It has been recognized for its efficacy in treating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) of the spleen and kidney yang deficiency, phlegm-fluid obstructing lung type. The drug is composed of several herbal ingredients including Cinnamon Bark, Prepared Aconite Root, Atractylodes Rhizome, Stir-fried Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome with bran, Stir-fried Perilla Fruit, Stir-fried Radish Seed, Dried Ginger, Stir-fried White Mustard Seed, and Prepared Licorice Root.
