Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tao Hong Si Wu Tang is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula that modifies the classic "Si Wu Tang" (Four-Substance Decoction) by adding peach kernel (tao ren) and safflower (hong hua). The canonical composition includes six herbs: Rehmannia glutinosa (shu di huang), Angelica sinensis (dang gui), Paeonia lactiflora or red peony root (bai shao or chi shao), Ligusticum chuanxiong or Cnidium root (chuan xiong), Prunus persica seed/peach kernel (tao ren), and Carthamus tinctorius/safflower flower (hong hua)[1][2][4][5][6]. The formula is traditionally used to tonify and invigorate blood, promote healthy blood circulation, dispel blood stasis, and regulate menstruation. It is commonly recommended for gynecological conditions such as irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea due to blood deficiency with concurrent blood stasis[1][7]. Its mechanism of action in TCM terms involves nourishing the blood while promoting its movement to resolve stagnation.
