Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Taodan granules (TDKL) are a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal preparation being investigated for the treatment of psoriasis, specifically for cases with blood-stasis syndrome. [2] It is a compound preparation containing nine herbal ingredients. [2] The formulation is based on Xia’s Huoxue Decoction, which has a history of use in psoriasis treatment for over 50 years. [2] The proposed mechanism of action involves "promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis" (PBCRBS), which in terms of modern medicine, is thought to involve inhibition of keratinocyte proliferation and regulation of inflammatory pathways like the Wnt, IL-17, and TNF signaling pathways. [2, 5] A multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT03942198) was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Taodan granules for mild-to-moderate psoriasis.
