Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Taodanfang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Yueyang Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris (blood-stasis type). The formula typically comprises several herbal ingredients, including *Prunus persica* (Tao Ren), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Dan Shen), *Curcuma zedoaria* (E Zhu), and *Sparganium stoloniferum* (San Leng). Taodanfang exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting the excessive proliferation and abnormal differentiation of keratinocytes and by modulating the immune response through the suppression of the IL-23/IL-17 inflammatory axis. Additionally, it has been shown to reduce angiogenesis by downregulating the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and inhibiting the STAT3 signaling pathway. It is currently utilized as a hospital-specific preparation in China.
