Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Taohe Chengqi decoction is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula originating from the *Shanghan Lun* (Treatise on Febrile Diseases). It is traditionally composed of five ingredients: *Prunus persica* (peach kernel), *Rheum palmatum* (rhubarb), *Cinnamomum cassia* (cinnamon twig), *Natrii Sulfas* (mirabilite), and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (licorice). The formula is primarily used to treat "blood stasis and heat accumulation," particularly in the lower burner. In modern clinical research, it is investigated for its anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic, and organ-protective effects, specifically in conditions like sepsis, sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction, diabetic nephropathy, and acute kidney injury. Its mechanism involves the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as TNF-α and IL-6), modulation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, and improvement of microcirculatory blood flow.
