Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Taponoto is a topical ceruminolytic ear solution developed by Teofarma for the treatment of ear canal occlusion due to cerumen (earwax) buildup. It is a combination product containing potassium carbonate, glycerol, ethyl alcohol, and thymol. The mechanism of action is primarily physical and chemical: glycerol acts as an emollient to soften the earwax plug, while potassium carbonate facilitates its mobilization and eventual removal, typically through subsequent irrigation with water. It is marketed in several countries, including Spain, under the brand name Taponoto Neo.
