Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TAR003 is a nucleic acid therapeutic developed by TargImmune Therapeutics (acquired by iOncologi) using its proprietary Ta:RNA platform. The drug consists of synthetic double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) encapsulated in targeted nanoparticles designed to bind to a specific, undisclosed receptor (Target 3) overexpressed on cancer cells. Upon delivery, the dsRNA mimics a viral infection, triggering the body's innate antiviral defense mechanisms. This dual-action approach induces selective apoptosis in tumor cells and modulates the immune system to activate both innate and adaptive responses against primary and metastatic tumors. TAR003 is currently in exploratory development for the treatment of solid tumors, specifically breast, ovarian, and cervical cancers.
