Overview

Taraxacum officinale leaf, commonly known as dandelion leaf, is a botanical extract derived from the perennial herb *Taraxacum officinale*. While not an approved pharmaceutical drug, it is widely used in herbal medicine and dietary supplements. The extract contains a variety of bioactive compounds, including flavonoids such as luteolin, sesquiterpene lactones, and phenolic acids. It has been investigated for its potential diuretic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antidiabetic properties. Proposed mechanisms of action include the inhibition of alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase for blood glucose regulation, modulation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathways in cancer research, and antioxidant-mediated liver protection. It is typically consumed as a tea, liquid extract, or in capsule form.
