Overview

TARP peptide vaccine is an investigational **therapeutic peptide cancer vaccine** developed by the National Cancer Institute for biochemical recurrent stage D0 prostate cancer. The first-generation product contains two HLA-A*0201-restricted epitopes derived from T-cell receptor gamma alternate reading frame protein: native TARP27-35 and epitope-enhanced TARP29-37-9V. The 9V substitution improves peptide binding affinity and is intended to induce TARP-specific cytotoxic T-cell responses against TARP-expressing prostate tumor cells. In the NCI pilot study, the peptide vaccine was administered with Montanide ISA 51 VG and sargramostim and evaluated against an autologous TARP peptide-pulsed dendritic-cell vaccine approach.
