Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tasectan Plus is a medical device preparation developed by Novintethical Pharma for the treatment of acute diarrhea in both adults and children. It is a combination of xyloglucan, a plant-derived polysaccharide with film-forming properties, and gelatin. The product acts through a mechanical, non-pharmacological mechanism by forming a protective film over the intestinal mucosa. This barrier helps restore the physiological functions of the gut wall, protecting it against aggression from pathogens and toxins, thereby reducing the frequency and duration of diarrhea episodes. It is typically administered as oral capsules or sachets and has been studied in randomized clinical trials, including comparisons with diosmectite and Saccharomyces boulardii.
